Mayhem and Madness ‘Jang-o Jonon’
The new album tracks of beloved and popular singer Dawood Sarkhosh with the title of ‘Jang-o jonon’ is set to be released soon. Sarkhosh is bringing this album to his passionate and enthusiastic fans after a long hiatus and following the last album ‘Bazi’. It is comprised of ten songs, featuring two songs written by the experienced cinematographer Dr. Homayun Morowat: ‘Banoye Herati’ and ‘Zulaikha Jan’; one song by the acclaimed afghan poet and translator, Mohammad Sharif Saiidi: ‘Jang-o Jonoon’; and seven other songs including ‘Shakila’ and ‘Ney-o Daf’ which are written by Dawood Sarkhosh himself, based on scripts from famous afghan poets Sayed Zia Qasemi and Ibrahim Amini. The themes of songs in this collection revolve around love or social issues and are performed in the genre of ‘pop’ and ‘hazaragi’. This album will be uploaded on Dawood Sarkhosh’s main web page, Sarkhosh Music Inc. web page and will also be available on social media. Dawood considers his experience of making this album a unique and cohesive one. He says “The longer I’ve been away from my homeland, and the farther, the more I’ve grown attached with that land’s folklores and the reason behind this is the richness and exquisiteness of this lofty and magnanimous land.” According to him, special attention has been given to the elements of ‘sincerity’ and ‘simplicity’ in the lyrics and composition of these songs. A cornerstone of this album is collaboration with well known poets of Afghanistan on writing the lyrics, which is an important positive step forward in line of improving music in Afghanistan. The publisher of the album is Sarkhosh Music Inc. Canada
